Our pets mean the world to us and as such we are always looking for ways to keep them safe, healthy and happy.
As with humans, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. This means we need to keep an eye on our pets and get to know them, so that when something isn’t quite right we’ll be the first to notice. Since our pets can’t tell us when something’s wrong, it’s our job to pick up on it and do something for him or her as soon as we notice something is off.
Take a look below as we highlight three ways to save on pet care and or meds when needed.
1. Once A Month Discount Vet Clinics –
Big chain stores like Petco and Petsmart have special vet days where various medical services are discounted. Everything from spay and neuter to vaccinations and physical exams to dental care and more. Visit one of your local branches to pick up the flyer that has the special dates and times for discounted vet care.
2. Pet Health Insurance –
There’s health insurance for pets just like there is health insurance for us. You can Google “pet health insurance” to see what plans are available in your particular zip code. Plan rates can range from a few dollars a month to a one lump annual fee with the rate depending on the age of your pet, your zip code and the type of plan you choose. However, insurance can be a great way to access good vet health care and discount pet medications at nicely reduced rates.
3. Keep Your Pet Healthy –
If you take good care of your pet, give him plenty of exercise, keep him or her out of stress and shower him with lots of love – this may ward off certain diseases and ailments. Ask any pet and he or she will tell you they don’t want to go to the vet and get a shot or otherwise. Right? Yep. It’s best to keep Fido or Fluffy out of the vet’s office by taking good care of him and giving him a good life. However there are some conditions which develop simply with old age and when this does happen, it’s a good idea to be prepared and have vet care in place.
Most pet owners will do anything for their pets, including spending money upfront for health insurance or simply having local vet and or discounted clinic information at hand; to make sure they are well. 🙂
If this describes you, then make sure he or she also has good vet care in place. A little bit of Google research here and there and or asking friends and family who they use, what tools or resources they go to – and you’ll have something in place – if, and when needed.
